Using Barri Dhimbuyn

The Sacred Country Collective is so proud to offer the global community the Barri Dhimbuyn cards.

Barri Dhimbuyn are two Dunghutti words and mean Earth Spirit.

Mother Earth is our home, the keeper of our ancestor spirits and our sacred place.
The introduction of these cards to our line in 2018 was to share our language and help Aboriginal and non-aboriginal people connect to Country.

This blog is a guide to help you use your Barri Dhimbuyn and can give you some insight on how using them assists you in connecting to Country.

The following information is a guide only and you may feel compelled to use these cards in other ways;

A card a day

Sitting in a safe and comfortable place, begin by shuffling the cards and allow your energy to come forth into the cards.
Select one card and allow this to be your card of the day.

You may choose to do the following with your card of the day;

  • place it on your desk or fridge and be reminded throughout the day
  • use the card as a daily journaling guide
  • use the word as a affirmation or mantra that you can repeat throughout the day
  • share the card on your social media accounts as a way to share the mother earth energy with the world

Past, present & future spread

Card spreads have been used in the tarot community since the late 1700's and can be used to interpret your current energy.

Sitting in a safe and comfortable place, begin by shuffling the cards and allow your energy to come forth into the cards.

Split the deck into three sections.

The first section placed on your left hand side, second section in the middle and right section on your right hand side.

Flip the top card on the first pile (to your left) and this is your 'past card.
Flip the top card on the second pile and this is your 'present' card.
flip the top card on the third pile and this is your 'future' card.

Sharing Barri Dhimbuyn cards

We have in the past had members of our community purchase and share the cards as part of a learning environment or sacred space.

The Sacred Country Collective is happy for the cards to be shared in this way, as we believe that the more people we can have connected to Country the better.

A final note on connecting to Country

Connecting to Country is a sacred practice and one that is beneficial for our mental, physical and spiritual health.

With close to 90% of the Australian population living in urban areas, it is important to incorporate a conscious connecting practice on a daily basis.

The state of awe that we feel when standing under a clear night sky, or in front of a waterfall or simply the peace and tranquility of being in a rainforest helps us to appreciate Mother Earth. It is this awe and peace that connects us and encourages us to live in harmony with Mother Earth.

By sitting in a safe and comfortable place on a daily basis and selecting a card, you can being to feel connected and in awe of the power of Mother Earth energy.
